Lauren + David’s Engagement Session at Grand Island Mansion

Grand Island Mansion stands as an epitome of wedding luxury in the heart of the Sacramento Valley, nestled serenely along the banks of the river in Walnut Grove. While it's primarily renowned as a premier wedding venue, I recently had the opportunity to capture an engagement session amidst its tranquil grounds, away from the hustle and bustle typically associated with the peak summer event season.

We wanted to aim towards a more editorial fashion look to the final photos, keeping them on a dramatic / moody type of posing and expressions.  Fortunately, we managed to evade the rain, and instead, were treated to a breathtaking sunset adorned with hues of pink and purple, providing the perfect backdrop for our final shots.

Much thought went into selecting the perfect attire for Lauren and David's engagement session. Though I'd like to take credit for the outfit choices, it was Lauren's impeccable taste that led us to their stunning ensembles. For the outdoor garden setting, I suggested opting for outfits with a flowing silhouette, complemented by soft pastel hues that harmonize with the venue's ambiance. Lauren effortlessly chose a delicate pastel lilac dress, while David complemented her with a medium grey suit accented by a matching purple tie.

Transitioning into the mansion's interior, characterized by its rich, warm tones and vintage wood decor, I initially envisioned something in a light sage... However, Lauren's choice of a dark forest green cocktail dress immediately captured my attention and I was instantly in love with it! Paired with a classic black suit, this outfit ensemble quickly became one of my personal favorites for photos at the Grand Island Mansion.  This session will definitely make my Pinterest board for engagement outfit inspiration.
